Richard Wale (Park Hill) wins the County Championship

The 2017 Amateur Championship was be held on Sunday 9th July at Rothley Park Golf Club and the winner, following a play-off, was Richard Wale of Park Hill Golf Club.

Richard won on the second playoff hole from Joe Hack (Lutterworth Golf Club) after both players completed their two championship rounds on fantastic scores of 5 under par. Richard will now go on to represent the L&RGU in the Champion of Champions tournament later this year.

James Billingham (Cosby) was in third place, with Stuart Marriott (Birstall) and Arshad Tarmahomed (Scraptoft) in fourth place.

The team prize, for the Corah Shield, was won by Birstall Golf Club. The three best scores from Birstall (Stuart Marriott, Steve Sansome and Scott Wormleighton) totalled 434, one ahead of Lutterworth (Joe Hack, Chris Abbott, Jay Sheridan). Birstall will now represent the L&RGU at the Champion Club Tournament in September.
