L&RGU Finish 3rd at the Eastern Counties Foursomes
The Leicestershire & Rutland Golf Union competes in the Eastern Inter Counties Foursomes on an annual basis. Held at Seacroft Golf Club, Skegness, the tournament involves 8 counties playing 72 holes of foursomes over a weekend.
The participating counties are Leicestershire & Rutland, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Essex and Bedfordshire.
The 2015 Eastern Inter Counties Foursomes took place on 16th & 17th May and the L&RGU finished in 3rd position with 22.5 points. The event was won by Lincolnshire with 26 points out of a possible 35. The L&RGU scored 16 points out of 20 on day 1, but only collected 4.5/10 on Sunday morning. Going into the final match, against Lincolnshire, the L&RGU needed a 4-1 victory or better to win the title but sadly lost 2-3.
The leading points scorers for the L&RGU, with a possible 6.5 out of 7, were Jack Merry (Birstall) and James Billingham (Cosby).
