L&RGU win Anglian League matches against Norfolk

Report from Terry Walker, Hon. Secretary of the L&RGU:

After three 'pre season' games against Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Nottinghamshire the County's 1st & 2nd Teams got their competitive season underway today in the Anglian League with home and away fixtures against Norfolk.

The 1st Team were at home at Cosby and opened up a comfortable cushion in the morning foursomes, taking a 3-1 lead which included a 9&7 match win. The afternoon singles brought further success with a 6 1/2 - 1 1/2 win and therefore taking the match with an overall score of 9 1/2 - 2 1/2.

The 2nd Team travelled to Royal West Norfolk for their match and achieved a 4-0 clean sweep in the morning foursomes and matched the 1st Team's overall score with a 5 1/2 - 2 1/2 singles victory to record a fine win of 9 1/2 - 2 1/2.

These resounding victories are a briliant start to the competitive season and provide great hope and optimism for the forthcoming fixtures. Next stop is the Eastern Inter-Counties Foursomes event at Seacroft Golf Club, Skegness next weekend.
