County players do well in National & Regional tournaments

Two county players had good performances in National and regional tournaments this week. Steve Sansome (Birstall) won the MGU Seniors Championship at Burton on Trent, he was in a three way tie on 146 with Brendon Moss (Woburn) and Paul Wharton (Woodhall Spa) after a sudden death play which saw Moss go out on first extra hole, Sansome and Wharton were tied after six extra holes so it was decided as a tie.

Sansome won the team prize with Graham Marshall, he also won the low round score of the tournament with a 69 in his first round.

Frazer Jones (Kirby Muxloe) finished tied 8th in the England Golf U16s McGregor Trophy at Camberley Heath with a 2 under Par total of 282.
