County Boys reach England Golf County Finals

The L&RGU County Boys won the England Golf Midland Qualifier at Ashbourne GC yesterday, they will now represent the Midlands at the England Golf County Finals at Coxmoor in August. This is the first time L&RGU have qualified, the tournament  was introduced in 1982.

County President Phil Askew said

"I have just returned from supporting the County U18s in the Midland Qualifier for the England Golf County Team Championship.  The quality of this team had raised expectation levels.  As usual everyone represented L&RGU with pride and passion.  As usual everyone was as fully prepared as possible.  As usual all the ten Midland Counties were represented with quality golfers.  It was a compelling competition where L&RGU emerged as winners.

Enormous thanks to the organisers, Mick Billingham and Gary Baines, the coaches Richard Hughes and Daniel Parkes.  Special thanks to all the parents and guardians for their assistance coping with all the additional Covid restrictions.  Congratulations to the Captain, Sam Haynes-Coote and all the players."
