Success for the L&RGU at the Midland U14 Boys County Championships

The Leicestershire & Rutland Golf Union have won the Midland U14 Boys County Championships against nine other local counties.

The event was held on Saturday 1st September on the testing par three course at Broughton Heath.

Report from the U14s Manager, Dave Deacon:

Played over 36 holes of the par 3 course at Broughton Heath Golf Club the start was delayed for 50 minutes due to a fog bound course. Contested by ten teams of six with the best five gross scores counting in each round the L&RGU were clubhouse leaders in the morning round with Ethan Bell and Sam Envis leading the way with gross 60. We took an eleven shot advantage over Warwickshire into the afternoon round. Play in the afternoon got a little more difficult when the wind got up for a short period. The afternoon round was lead by Will Plant with 59 gross and with two scores still to come the L&RGU were tied with Warwickshire. When all scores had been returned the L&RGU ran out the winners with a total 615 against Warwickshires 619. We last won the trophy a decade ago!

The team of Will Plant (Captain), Millen Durham, Ethan Bell, Frazer Jones, Sam Envis and Thomas Dziuba were supported by non-playing reserve George Bailey
