L&RGU Boys take part in the Tom Finn Trophy

On Sunday 5th August the Leicestershire & Rutland Golf Union hosted the Tom Finn Trophy at a well prepared Melton Mowbray Golf Club. The event was contested by 10 man teams of U16's from the L&RGU, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.

The L&RGU team was supported by five members of the U14 squad and hopes were high, although Suffolk appeared to be the strongest team on paper. Play commenced in warm humid conditions and some exciting golf was witnessed. It soon became apparent that we would struggle in the top half of the order but the lower half were performing well. A special mention to Sam Envis who days earlier became the Nett Champion in North of England U14 Championship and contributed two excellent wins to the cause. The team are to be praised for there efforts in making it a close result despite losing out by a couple of points.

RESULT: Suffolk 13.5 ; Lrgu 11 ; Cambridgeshire 5.5.
