U16 Boys lose close game against Lincolnshire

Match report from Gary Baines - L&RGU U16 Team Manager

What a scorcher! On the hottest day of the year so far both teams turned up in good time including some who had journeyed over 100 miles from Lincolnshire. Some of the Leicestershire & Rutland team wore tailored black shorts which seemed sensible to me and with wide white belt and white shoes they looked very smart. David and Janet Bentley came to the game with welcomed extra water and practical help - Janet kindly starting the afternoon singles.

The highlight of the morning was Ethan Bell and Millen Durham’s great come back win from 4 down to win on the 18th in front of the crowd - after the morning foursomes we led 3-2.

In the afternoon singles Owen Tweed had a close loss whilst Will Plant and newcomer Ethan had maximum points for the day; Alfie Cockerill was unbeaten with 1.5 points on the day. Lincolnshire took the afternoon singles 7-3 and the match overall by 9-6.

The Forest Hill course was playing tough, with long rough in places. All in all it was a great match against a very good and well organised Lincolnshire team.
