Leicestershire & Rutland Golf Union
The Leicestershire & Rutland Golf Union began the 2012 with matches against Worcestershire on Sunday 4th March The First Team played at Longcliffe Golf Club whilst the Second Team were at The Abbey Hotel and Golf Club.
The First Team game at Longcliffe was abandoned after the morning foursomes due to a waterlogged course. Worcestershire were leading 3.5-1.5 after the morning round - match results are listed below, L&RGU names are listed first:
Sam Mayfield & Steve Sansome lost 7/6 to Richard Sadler & Chris Heeley
Chris Webb & Shaun Corby halved with Josh Carpenter & Scott Mason
Jack Mayfield & James Billingham lost 1 down to Anthony Hill & Steven Lane
James Pretty & Oli Willson won 4&3 against George Palmer & Matt Vigurs
Kieran Foster & Martin Anderson lost 2/1 to Graham Wallace & Russ Ager
The Second Team played a truncated match - the morning foursomes was reduced to 8 holes whilst the singles matches were shortened to 10 holes. The Seconds won the foursomes 3.5-1.5 and the singles 5.5-4.5 to win the game 9-6 overall. Congratulations to Jim Longstaff and Keith Tripp on a good start to the season.
