RULES
(Revised April 1999 and Jan 2008)
1.  The League shall be named the Leicestershire & Rutland Golf League.
2.  The League will be administered by the Competitions Sub-Committee of the Leicestershire and Rutland Golf Union whose decision shall be final in respect of any dispute.
3.  Matches will be 8 aside singles matches played off scratch
4.  No player may represent more than one Club during a season and all players must be bona fide members of the club they represent.
5.  The matches shall be played on the dates fixed by the Competitions Sub-Committee.
6. 

In all divisions, the matches will be played to a predetermined formula on every other Thursday starting on the 17th Thursday of the year up to and including the 35th Thursday of the year.
The order of play will be based on the league tables at the end of the previous season, having taken promotion and demotion into consideration.
If a match cannot be played on a fixed day due to exceptional circumstances, e.g. security alerts at the R.A.F. courses or race meetings at Oadby, the match may be arranged subject to the approval of the Competitions Sub-Committee.

In the event of a match not being completed on the official date, the match shall be replayed. The League Secretary shall be informed of an incomplete match

7.  Two points shall be awarded to the winning Club of each match and one point shall be awarded for a drawn match. In the event of Clubs having an equal number of points at the end of the season, "goal difference" will decide the order of participants. If, after applying "goal difference" there is still a tie, a play-off will take place on a neutral course.
8.  The number of divisions shall be regulated by the number of Clubs participating. There shall be no less than five Clubs and no more that six Clubs in a division.
At the end of each season, the bottom Club in all but the lowest division shall be relegated and the top Club in each division other than division One shall be promoted.
In the event of an additional Club successfully applying to join the League, that Club will enter the lowest division. The lowest division shall accommodate an extra Club first. In this event, the leading two Clubs from the lowest division will be promoted. The same formula shall be used to make up other higher divisions, should further Clubs be admitted. This process would be reversed should the number of Clubs be reduced or the number of divisions increased.
9.  Matches will start at 5.pm. unless a prior agreement has been made between the Clubs. If any individual player arrives more than 45 minutes after the agreed starting time, he shall forfeit his individual match if this is claimed by his opponent
10.  Each Captain shall enumerate his players in playing order and the two lists shall be exchanged 15 minutes before play commences.
11.  Players from each side shall pay for the cost of their supper, whether the match be played at home or away from home.
12.  It is the responsibility of the home Captain to notify the Secretary of the League the result of a match within 48 hours of it being played. (See rule 6.)
13.  Winning Clubs will receive their trophies at the County Union Dinner each year.
14.  If any Club fails to fulfil a fixture, that Club shall have all results declared void and be relegated at the end of the season.
15.  Any applications from Clubs to join the Leicestershire & Rutland Golf League must be received before August 31st if that Club is to be permitted to take part in the following year. Any Club wishing to resign from the League must submit it's resignation before August 31st if this is to be effective in the following year.
16. Play MUST be in accordance with the Rules, as defined by the R & A, Players MUST ensure they play with Conforming Balls and Driving Clubs
