Leicestershire & Rutland Golf Union

The Hon. Match Secretary for the L&RGU is Kevin Whitfield-Green. He came to Leicestershire from Northumberland in 1987 and was a member of Birstall GC for several years - he now plays his golf at Stapleford Park. Kevin is also Secretary of the L&RGU Scratch League.

He started playing golf in 1972 at Morpeth GC, Northumberland, and was a category one golfer for 35 years. He has maintained his membership of that club, where he is an active club  director.

Kevin has played for the county nearly 50 times, captaining the 2nd.team from 2001-2003, winning the 2001 Anglian League. Then he progressed to county captain 2004-6, heading the 2005 Anglian League winning squad. The team was also runners-up in the 2004 EGU County Finals at Worksop GC, losing out by half-a-point to Surrey for the title.

When Geoff Brown retired in 2010 after 25 years as L&RGU Scratch League secretary, Kevin succeeded him and at the 2011 AGM, he took over from Graham Fox, after his 20 years as county match secretary.

Kevin worked in local government until his move to Leicestershire, where he works in the NHS as a manager in mental health.
