In order to qualify for the English County Finals, the L&RGU competes in the Midland County Championship. The winners of the Midland County Champion represent the Midland Group in the English County Finals.
The Midland County Championship involves a team of 6 players, each playing 36 holes with the best 5 from 6 scores counting on each 18 to count towards the final total (this was changed in 2022 from all 6 scores counting in both rounds). The county with the lowest overall score wins the Midland County Championship.

The 2023 EG Midland County Championship Qualifying took place at Belton Park (Brownlow) Golf Club on Saturday 15th July and the winners were Lincolnshire on 706 4 under Par, L&RGU finished 2nd on 721 +11, last years winners Derbyshire were 3rd on 723 +13.
Best individual score was 2 under 140 by Lincolnshires William Hopkins (Belton Park) The best score by a L&RGU player was 1 under 141 by Richard Wale (Kibworth) 4th Scott Wormleighton (Rothley Park) was 7th with a level par 142.
